Verklempt

Tonight
I learned
a new word that best
describes my feeling that night
when you left me hanging
in the fountain
where I’m drowning in
my tears

Verklempt

A Yiddish word
that is often pronounced
with an F
in the beginning;

Fer-klempt?
fver-klempt?
fever-klempt?

They say it means to be
overcome
with an emotion
that you feel
too
much,
you’re now
at a loss for words

Oh,
what my present holds
of a memory
about
a distant past
that has long been
forgotten

About Shayne Zalameda

Shayne Zalameda is Misstache. She adores eating, traveling, attending events, and watching films. She likes to omit adjectives and is fascinated with ironies. As much as possible, she tries to avoid the word "very". Sometimes she easily forget things. More on http://LeMisstache.com
